The characteristic of genuine heroism is its persistency. All men have wandering impulses, fits and starts of generosity. But when you have resolved to be great, abide by yourself, and do not weakly try to reconcile yourself with the world. The heroic cannot be the common, nor the common the heroic.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
A MUST READ ABOUT THIS SPECIAL WOMAN:
Rafiyah is a Marathon runner, mother of two, busy New York City woman working long hours as a school teacher down the street from NuYu Revolution. Two and a half years ago she bid on a fitness package donated to her school for their annual auction, and won 4 classes. On April 26th, 2013, Rafiyah began to workout regularly with a promise to herself to make exercise an ongoing part of her life. Though it was tough, uncomfortable and a bit of a nuisance, she stopped listening to the voice that told her not to go to the gym and worked out 3 to 5 days a week at a level that felt right to her. Six months later on November 3rd, 2013 Rafiyah ran across the finish line of the New York City Marathon to receive her first medal. Since then she's run two half marathons, received two more very prestigious medals and continues to ignore the voice that says she can't. She believes she can, so she does! The NuYu Revolution family is in awe of this hero as she lays a strong foundation for her life, while being a role model for others. She, without saying a word... inspires those around her to honor their bodies with fitness. The smile on her face reminds us that our bodies are capable of greatness and if we embrace that truth, the sky is the limit. We at NuYu Revolution lift our glasses to toast the unstoppable athlete that you are, and are honored to know you! ‪#‎CongratulationsRafiyah‬
