#ImproveYourPosture #Pilates #SoGood #SoPowerful #SoEducational #NuYuRevolution

Runner or golfer, tennis player, cyclist, or even non-athlete… chances are you've heard someone talking about the benefits of Pilates. Many types of people, at many levels of fitness who have begun doing Pilates exercises say they've seen improvements in range of motion, flexibility, circulation, posture, and abdominal strength -- and decreases in back, neck and joint pain.

Pilates, when performed correctly and with the proper supervision -- can do all that and more. It is an education in body awareness, and can change the relationship you have with your body by educating you in a better way to move in daily life.

When you're cooking, brushing your teeth, or reaching for something the lessons can echo in your head… “Pull your stomach in, your shoulders down, elongate your spine, neck loose and breathe deeply. There is an attention required during Pilates that changes your awareness about the way you carry yourself, long after class.

You learn to train your mind, build symmetry and coordination in the body. One of the biggest benefits is physical awareness, regarding how you sit, stand, move and then being able to relate those habits to how you move through your days.

Being aware of the support that thoughtful functional movement can give can often reduce discomfort in your daily routine. The bodies aches and pains can be alleviated by deep muscle engagement in the correct places, and relaxing muscles such as the neck and shoulders which are unnecessary places for muscle engagement.

This type of awareness definitely helps support injuries you have or have had in the past and can rid you of some types of chronic pain. It can help make you aware of that tweak in the neck you get from sitting at the computer all day with rounded shoulders and a phone cradled between ear and shoulder.

Many people sit slouched at computers all day, then go to the gym and work their extremities, yet if we don't concentrate on building a good foundation and a strong core, we'll end up tight in some places and weak in others, injury-prone and susceptible to the pitfalls of our occupation or chosen fitness routine.

Although most people want flat abs, and are often looking for weight loss over core strength, a Pilates practice creates a stronger, healthy back and body. With a well-rounded fitness regimen, weight loss and a more emphasized athletic physique is inevitable when combined with Pilates.

As you develop body awareness, stand straighter, and gain flexibility, Pilates has the ability to shift your shape. When you are properly taught and guided to move in a more biomechanically sound way, you will become more in control of your body, which will give you great results, confidence and desire to learn more…………
